2018.19 Instructor Time Commitments

  • Seasonal Time Commitment: November 24, 2018 – March 31, 2019.
  • All instructors MUST attend one indoor & one On-Snow Orientation.
  • Availability over the winter holidays is mandatory.
  • Snow School start date is not set as it is weather & volume snow dependent (usually late November)
18.19 Time Commitments Grid
  • Christmas is our busiest time. If you cannot meet the Christmas requirements we will not be able to employ you.
  • If you are unable to meet your Holiday requirements you will no longer be eligible for employment.
  • You cannot miss a shift over the Christmas Holiday period, only trade a shift.

GUARANTEED HOURS

  • Instructors are paid for teaching/working time with a minimum guarantee of hours Please refer to the Wage Scale for more details.

SENIORITY SYSTEM

Hours are allocated through scheduling efforts as well as lesson assignments on-snow by the following factors (in no particular order).

  • Position (Supervisor, Trainers, Team Leaders, Instructors etc.)
  • Status ( Full time first, PT + second, PT third)
  • Length of service at Cypress
  • Certifications & experience
  • Performance (Private requests, initiative, enthusiasm, positive guest comments etc.)

SHIFT & STATUS CHANGES

  • All shift changes require you to find replacements for your shifts.
  • If you know you will miss a shift it is your responsibility to notify the scheduler in writing with at least 2 weeks’ notice.

TIME OFF REQUESTS

  • All approved time off will require you to find replacements for your shifts.
  • To request time off complete the Time Off Request Form 
  • Time off will not be approved during holidays, peak periods, or long weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Cypress staffing requirements for the 2018.19 winter operations are contingent on many factors including snow conditions and ticket sales. If you accept employment with Cypress, you must understand that your working days and hours may fluctuate depending on our needs, and you may be subject to temporary layoffs or the termination of your employment without notice. Your employment term is seasonal in nature, and is only valid for the 2018.19 winter season or a shorter period as determined by Cypress Management.

Probationary Period:

The first ninety days as an employee of Cypress Mountain will be a probationary period during which your performance in the duties and responsibilities of your position will be evaluated. During this period your employment may be terminated without notice or payment in lieu of notice for general unsuitability for the position, failure to perform duties as described in your job description or breach of company policies or procedures as set out in the Cypress Employee Handbook or Department Manuals.
